A garden is not complete without wildlife. 

I hate to cover plants for the winter, but is easier than replacement.  For the most part I only cover the ones that are new or that need wet winter protection.  

With this Yucca brevifolia I am undecided if I want to cover it or not.  It has lived without cover in the past winters, but never grew much, as you can see from the pic.

My big Y. faxoniana is now too big for winter cover.

This year most of my Y. rostratas will not be covered.

This Y. elata and the following will be left out in the wet and cold.

And this is very special too me, this came from seed from John Weiser in Reno NV.

Everything changes so fast!

Took a few sunset pics sense the last post.  Now that Fall is here so are the clouds and the falling temps.  It is nice too see the beautiful colors in the morning and evening sky, but I would trade them in for warmer winters.lol

Many of the pics in this post are of travel to Boise ID from here.  They were taken through a very dirty window at high speeds (my wife was driving) so they are not very clear or good for that matter.  But they give an idea of what Southwestern Idaho looks like.

 The further west we headed the less clouds we encountered.

Boise and Tucson are very similar to me.  At least from a distance.

Feeling the Fall.

Fall is here, but the weather is just about as perfect as it can get. Working out in the garden or on the job has been a real treat.  Lite frost in the morning and temps in 50's and 60's during the day, perfect!

Here is an Agave havardiana planted this year, with frost damage.

How hardy are these?  I hope this one makes it through the winter!
