Two new Echinocactus polycephalus.
Even though we had the warmest winter I have seen here, this was the second worst damage I've seen on my yuccas. We did however have an early temperature drop. Plants don't like warm to very cold weather.
As a result of the temp. shift, I lost the arm on the left of this J-tree. Maybe I should have left it, but I did not want the internal bac-t rot to spread. So I decided to cut the infected branch off. (no after pic)
And most of this Yucca baccata also rotted. I plan on moving this at a later date.
Wild Phlox
A new penstemon before it flowered. I like the color here.
A flower thief.
Opuntia engelmannii x basilaris
Service berry? I think.
Some bulb, that keep showing up in the spring.
Buck wheat
Bigtooth Maple
Japanese columbine, does surprising well in dry conditions.
Eriogonum ovalifolium v ovalifolium, Lincoln County, north of west of Shoshone.
Gopher Snake #1 found in the yard.
Gopher Snake #2 found in the yard
Your mystery bulb is likely tulip bakeri 'Lilac Wonder,' which is native to Crete. I grow them in Austin, TX, but they seem to only live for a few years.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I would have never have guessed.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your garden update!!!
ReplyDeleteHow'd I miss this post? The yuccas are surprising, but maybe early cold spells that last or combined with moisture could do it. Yet your Echinocactus polycephalus is fine...the one I had rotted in a mild, wet winter.
